DESIGNER

VARVAR is the creation of fashion designer Karin Alpanian.
Whether draping the body with beautiful fabrics or wearing jewelry for both aesthetic and energetic reasons, Karin has always been drawn to the art of personal adornment and expression.

Karin's original inspiration came from a conversation she had several years ago with her cousin, renowned hairstylist John Sahag, in New York. They discussed  the importance and magic of exploring shapes as it pertains to the process of creating a design, whether it is a hairstyle, an article of clothing, or a piece of jewelry to accessorize or complete the look of an outfit.

Karin’s journey to success began in the mid ‘90s when she designed her own line of contemporary couture sportswear, accessorizing them with handmade designer bag collections.

Sparked by her passion for rocks, stones and pearls, and all kinds of minerals drawn from our precious earth, Karin’s growing love for organic materials inspired new design concepts in one-of-a-kind, collectible, handmade clothing, jewelry and accessories.

She combined her clothing, fabric and color knowledge with stones and pearls into unique artistic creations on fabric. Then she combined the fabric world with beads.

 Now Karin has taken her experiences with clothing and fabric knowledge to the next level of jewelry design.
 
Each VARVAR design is one of a kind. Each piece makes its own distinctive statement. Each reflects the remarkable tones and textures of the many natural treasures found in nature and in the earth.
